ADEL System CBI245A, industrial backup power supply, 24V/5A, 120W

The CBI line of industrial backup power supplies (sometimes also referred to as DC-UPS) from the traditional Italian manufacturer ADEL System brings the best technologies to the category of affordable supplies. The CBI245A model is an AC/DC source with an input voltage of a wide range of 115-230 V and a DC output of 24 V / 5 A, so it is possible to connect devices with a power input of up to 120 W. In addition, batteries can be connected to the source, so the powered device will remain operational even if the mains input fails.

The CBI245A source has a smart battery monitoring and management system, so all devices can use any type of battery with a factory-optimized charging curve suitable for all the most common battery technologies: open lead, closed lead, GEL/AGM, Ni-Cd, Li-Ion. An integrated battery life test guarantees power supply reliability through continuous internal impedance testing. It prevents possible damage and thus provides permanent, reliable power supply-according to the detected parameters, the system is able to recognize sulfated batteries or batteries with a shorted cell.

Other battery checks and protections include:

• Testing the impedance of the connection wires-during maintenance charging, the condition of the supply wires is checked every 20 seconds to detect a bad contact
• Short-circuited or sulfated batteries-during maintenance charging, an internal impedance test is performed every two hours to detect defective batteries
• Wrong battery polarity-protection against connecting batteries with the opposite polarity
• Wrong battery type-protection against connecting incompatible batteries
• Temperature compensation-thanks to the attachable temperature sensor, an optimal charging curve is guaranteed under all temperature conditions
• Short-circuited cells-thanks to specific test algorithms, the DC-UPS detects batteries with internal short-circuited cells

The output voltage can be regulated in the range of 22 to 28.8 V (depending on the battery used), the source can also withstand up to 100% output overload without disconnecting the load. It is then protected against a short circuit by one of 3 optional methods: 1) Hiccup mode 2) Continuous Out Mode 3) Manual Reset. A wide operating temperature range (-25 °C to 70 °C), a compact size including a DIN rail holder and a superior 3-year warranty are prerequisites for reliable operation under all circumstances.
